The Xbox 720: (2011)
At a keynote session during this year's GC Developer Conference, taking place in Leipzig, Germany, Crytek president and CEO Cevat Yerli revealed his belief that the new next generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony will hit the market in 3-4 years' time.
"The PlayStation 4 and Xbox '720' will arrive in 2011 or 2012, we think," said Yerli. "But this is just our estimate - we don't know, and even if Microsoft and Sony told us, I couldn't say because it would be under NDA.
"But we think in three to four years' time, although there are good reasons why it should be 2010 already...but we'll see."
However recently Microsoft has confirmed that yes, the Xbox 360’s successor is already being worked on. According to Microsoft EMEA (European, Middle East, and Africa) vice president Chris Lewis:
“The consumer won’t let you rest on your laurels, the developers certainly won’t let us. So that’s happening right now.
You’ll see more on a new Xbox over time…certainly we’re not talking about the next version yet. So give us a chance to catch a breath, will you?”
Xbox 720 specs:
1. Chip to be replaced by the first Larrabee version (Intel)
2. Advanced Vector Extensions for Intel's 32nm process chips [codename 'Sandy Bridge']
3. HDMI output as well as WiFi
4. DirectX 11 and Apple's Open CL API
5. To be compatible with the Xbox 360 game line up
6. Hard Disk variants 60GB, 120GB, and 200GB
7. Available at $299, $399, and $499
The PS4: (2010-2011)
Sources claim Sony is planning to make PS4 available sooner than Xbox 720. Sony perhaps felt that it got its fingers too badly burned by letting Xbox 360 beat it to market last time and won't want to give Microsoft the same opportunity again. a report indicating that Sony is currently designing the specs for the next generation console. The source also state that Sony will try to beat Microsoft to the punch next generation.
Pics: How the PS4 might look
According to the source, a Japanese news agency, PC Watch Impress (Google Translated link), Sony Computer Entertainment is querying some ideas with the third party developers in regards to the design of the PS4. The news report also indicate that the PS4 will be twice as powerful as the PS3.
Currently, by conventional computing standards the PS3 is the most powerful gaming console out on the market, capable of performing 2.0 teraFLOPS (trillion floating point operation per second). If that power was doubled, the PS4 would be capable of performing at an incredible 4.0 teraFLOPS.
Sony has already shunk its Cell processor from 65nm to 45nm. I wonder if PS4 might go 25nm.
PS4 specs: (Possibly rumor)
1. IBM Fusion processor
2. 4 x 7.0Ghz processors
3. 16 SPEs(1500mhz)
4. DirectX 11
5. ATI R800 GPU supporting UHDTV(7680 x 4320 resolution)
6. UDI port

All I have to say now is no matter what the technology, It is going to be the BEST! The Best! And you can spare none of them. atleast not me. Both Opponents will have its own ups and downs. Like Halo 4 will be exclusively reserved for Xbox 720.
I say you just need not worry because a dollar a day can fetch you both Xbox 720 and the PS4...
.......So, start Saving.
