The developer of Halo Wars was "shocked" to learn that owner Microsoft would be shutting the studio down on completion of its final title, says one of Ensemble Studio's key players.
Ensemble's Bruce Shelley, writing a blog entry on the company's official site Monday, said: "Everyone at our studio was shocked, and I think remains very disappointed that this is going to happen. I believe we thought we were immune to shut-down talk because our published games have done so well and have been so profitable."
Halo Wars is a real-time strategy game set in the world of the popular FPS. Its official web site says that the Xbox 360 game is slated for release in the first half of 2009.
Ensemble will remain open until the game is finished.
